Thank you for choosing Amiga Forever, the official suite of Classic Amiga emulation,
OS, connectivity and support solutions since
1997.
The Amiga Forever team at Cloanto has been
actively developing Amiga software since 1986, and worked on this project
with great passion and attention to detail. The Amiga Forever developers
are, first of all, Amiga Forever users themselves, and enjoy helping other
Amiga enthusiasts and sharing bits and bytes of Amiga culture and history.
Amiga Forever would not have been possible without the help of numerous
contributors.

several hundred pages of documents, and is substantially larger, more
refined and more up-to-date than this documentation.
Overview
This documentation can be accessed both from the host environment (e.g.
from the Amiga Forever launcher, via the Start menu, in Windows) and from
inside the preinstalled Amiga OS 3.X environment ("gray Workbench
screen"). Just
click AWeb, which is the first icon in the dock at the bottom of the screen.
The Amiga OS 1.3 environment ("blue Workbench screen") does not have a web
browser. Therefore, ReadMe.txt files have been placed at the root of the 1.3
Workbench and First Demos floppy disk images. Please refer to these files
for context-specific instructions.
Please use the navigation bar at the left of these documentation pages
to access the various sections. The "Amiga Forever" logo graphics at the
top of the bar can always be used to visit the Amiga Forever home page at
www.amigaforever.com.
On Windows, the Amiga Forever launcher can be invoked from the Start
menu (under Programs/Cloanto/Amiga Forever, or equivalent entry in other
languages). We recommend the use of the Amiga Forever launcher to access
both the documentation, the Amiga environments and additional premium
content.
Amiga Forever Versions
Amiga Forever is available in two main versions: an easy to download
"Online Edition", and a "Premium Edition" on CD, which contains additional
multimedia items, several hours of video footage, and Amiga
ROM and OS files of historical interest (e.g. Amiga OS 1.0).
The Online Edition is available in a Windows version, which
is easier to install on Windows, and in a cross-platform ZIP archive. Other
than for the installation procedures these two
packages have identical content (the files of the Windows version can be
used on GNU/Linux, and the cross-platform version includes separate
installers for Windows-only components such as Amiga Explorer and Software Manager).
The CD Edition of Amiga Forever includes additional content, such as
a gallery of multimedia items, videos, a selection of preinstalled games,
and a broader set of Amiga ROM and OS files of historical interest.
The Online Edition can
always be extended with the optional
Online Plus Pack, which contains the additional Amiga ROM and OS files (but not the
Gallery and Videos files, except for an MP3 version of the Jay Miner
interview) which are
included in the CD Edition.
Custom "Special Edition" ("SE") versions of Amiga Forever also exist.
These are limited in functionality, and only include version 1.3 Amiga ROM
and OS files.
This documentation is shared between all versions and components of
Amiga Forever. |
